Some of you may have noticed that the site is not working today. The domain the site was hosted on has closed. This would mean the 3rd move this site would have to make. I have decided NOT to re-open the site. I've seen some new AJ sites opening, which will be great. I do not have the time to maintain the site, and it's become a bit of a burden. I want to thank all of the wonderful visitors, especially those who have contributed pictures, interviews, etc. If someone would like to take over the site NAME and the fanlisting, send me an e-mail. If I approve, I will forward you all of the members. You'll have to host the site yourself and adhere to the fanlisting rules (since I will forward them all of the new information) I'll give you the simplyaj.cjb.net address as well. As far as pictures go, you may use them on your sites. If you've saved them for personal use or anything like that. I can't send people e-mails of pictures because that's too time consuming. Sorry everyone

Are you serious?? That is terrible. You can't close this site up! It's the best AJ site I ever known. But, I understand that you need time, and I know that it takes a lot of time to run a fan-site. (I have my own, 100% AJ, as you know) It's sad to hear this, it really is! It would be great to take over a site like this, but I'm not sure wherther I have enough time or knowledge to run a site, as good as you. (And a have my own site too.) I really hope you find someone responsible enough to run your site, and wish you all luck. I also hope there's a slight chance of you changing your mind. Thanks for all, take care. Anders

I think the forums should stay online. It's a free offer and it doesn't have to be ruled by someone. Isn't it possible that we could go together and start some kind of group, that works together on finding information. And one person could be the sites administrator and do the HTML-stuff. That way, it would be less work to do alone.
Just wondering, the site is obviously running again. Do this mean that the site is staying online, or....

Hey guys,
Here's an update on the situation. I still cannot maintain the site. It is still up because our host decided to give us a chance to move all of our stuff out before closing down for good.
The boards WILL remain open. They require no maintenance and are on a different server anyways.
I've received a few e-mails about taking over the site, and have read some posts on this particular thread. If there are people willing to take on the site themselves, I will allow them too.
However, it's not an easy task. Which is why I think a group effort would be the best way to go.
You will need someone who is proficient in HTML and can take care of all the behind-the-scenes goop. This means updating the site, uploading pictures, adding members to the fanlisting, etc. This person should be familiar with FTP (it's really easy to learn)
Another person could be in charge of gathering any news. A quick little search from time to time. When they've found some info, they could e-mail it to everyone else and have someone update the site.
A big job is PICTURES. Lordy. Picture, pictures. Everyone wants pictures! I'd divide this job into two, maybe even 3.
Screen Captures Random pics on the net Scans
Now AJ isn't really in any magazines now, but she may be in the future. This would be the job of the "scanner" to send in any pictures they've scanned.
Screen captures are pretty important. There's a variety of ways to do them and I know there's some people out there who have sent me their own captures. Maybe recruiting one of them would be a good idea.
Random pics on the net is Joana's speciality! She's an absolute whiz at finding pictures. She does this with interviews and articles as well. She's def. helped me out a lot. Recruiting this girl is a must!
Now there's the whole layout thing. I try to change the layout every so often. It just freshens up the site and gives the visitors something different to look at it. If there's someone who's proficient with graphic programs (Adobe, Paint Shop Pro, etc) that would be great. This person would just have to work on a new layout every few months or so. If that's what you want to do. If not, it's up to whoever runs the site.
Someone could be in charge of the fanlisting. It's not a big job. Just updating the members, processing all the forms that go through. I'd give you the ajfanlisting@hotmail.com e-mail address and you'd be set. I would really like to see the site remain as a Fan site/Fanlisting.
There's a few other things I guess. Articles, the media section and a few other things. They're not that hard to maintain. If you find an interview, you just add it to the media list. If you find an article, you add it to the article section. Easy stuff.
The site will also have to have a new home. Like I said, the simplyaj.cjb.net would be yours, but it's just a "mask" address. I'll try to find a new home, but I can't make any promises. If I don't have any luck, it'll be the responsiblity of those who take the site under their wings.
This is something for everyone to ponder. If you'd like to contribute, reply to this. I'm touched you guys want to keep the site running.

I forgot to add...
I'm still going to be around. I'll offer any help and advice to the person(s) who take over the site.
I've just received an e-mail from someone who would be willing to be a part of the "team" for sure. I'll try to compile a list of volunteers.

Update: The wonderful Brenna has lent a new home to Simply AJ. Her site (For the love of AJ) will be closing as well (I know, all of us close at once!) Out of respect for Brenna, and her domain, I will only allow ONE person to handle all of the HTML work and FTP stuff. This person MUST know what they are doing. I simply cannot stress that enough. They will be responsible for uploading everything to the site. However, there can still be a group who run the site as a whole. Like I said, someone in charge of gathering pictures, etc. There just can't be 5 or 6 people accessing the directory. Especially tinkering around with stuff they don't know about. To get an idea of who's interested, just reply with what you'd be willing to do. Communication is going to be vital. I'll help to delegate everyone's tasks/roles and get everything started. Only offer help if you're serious

I'm pretty familiar whith HTML, but not FTP. But, I am interested in doing the HTML stuff (and FTP, if I learn it. I need some thinking time) Anyway, I'll be happy to gather information for this site. About the domain, is it a pay-domain? If it is, who's gonna pay for it?
